What’s Happening Now

Foliar Diseases in Corn:

The foggy nights, dew soaked mornings, and the occasional rain showers we have experienced have been ideal for the development of Gray Leaf Spot and Northern Corn Leaf Blight.

I have seen more GLS in fields while scouting last week but the cooler temperatures are actually more ideal for the spread of NCLB.

Before you decide to make a fungicide application you must do your homework.  Proper scouting is key to making an informed decision.

Field observations plus other information such as hybrid disease tolerance, near-term weather forecasts, previous crop, amount of residue and disease history of the field are all factors to consider.
